Handling Your Fish

The day of fish pickup you must bring large garbage cans or stock tanks with fresh pond or lake water. Be sure not to use tap water or city water, as the chlorine will kill the fish. Five gallon buckets may be used on small Catfish, Bass or Bluegill at the rate of 25-35 fish per bucket.

When you get the fish to their final destination, it is best to acclimate the fish to your pond temperature slowly rather than dumping them in. Float the bucket or garbage can in the pond and mix the water slowly for the next few minutes before releasing your fish.

The fish need to be stocked in your pond as soon as possible after they are picked up. The longer the fish are in a non-oxygenated container the more death loss will occur.
